During this holiday season, we had fairly light attendance last Sunday, but were able to play five games with four players. It is my opinion that playing with two person teams is incredibly difficult. One person out of position by just a touch is likely to result in a score. We were still able to play and I think we had a good time. Below are the results. The next time we see each other it will be 2015. Have a great and safe New Years Eve! 0 / 5 ALLIE 4 / 5 DAGGER 4 / 5 FORREST
Many many thanks to Lynn Parkin for running the games on the 14th. I did a winter escape to some warm weather on the ocean. It was marvelous. Below are the results for the 14th and the 21st and below that are the results for the season so far. I hope that all of you had a marvelous Christmas and connected with family and friends. I managed to eat way too much turkey, stuffing, etc. etc. etc. It was good! I'll see you on Sunday!!
Last Sunday's games marked the beginning of the Winter season of Tugby. Last Sunday saw the return of Jean Quartz. Welcome back Jean... good to see you! I will be leaving on vacation tomorrow (Dec 12th) and won't be back until the 20th. Lynn Parkin has agreed to run the games. Many many thanks to Lynn! The results are below.
Last Sunday's games brought to a close the Fall Tugby Season. Lynn led the field with total games won of 30 and an outstanding win percentage of 69.8%. Congrats to Lynn. Next Sunday will be the start of the Winter Season of Tugby. I do want to let you all know that I will be gone on December 14th, and will need someone else to run the games. I will be at sea off the coast of California! See you Sunday the 7th! Last Week's Results: 1 / 5 ALLIE 1 / 1 BURT 3 / 5 CARLA 3 / 5 DAGGER 1 / 5 JUSTIN 4 / 5 LYNN 2 / 4 YASMIN
We had two new players last Sunday. One was Justin Blade (stevell) and the other was Steve (Steve.Trenchard). A big tugger welcome to you two!! You braved the field and did VERY well. I hope that all of you who are in the U.S. managed to survive Turkey Day. When I count my blessings, one that I count is the friends that come to play Tugby. Thank you for having fun!! Hope to see you on the 30th! Results for last week: 1 / 3 ALLIE 1 / 3 DAGGER 3 / 3 FORREST 1 / 3 JUSTIN 1 / 3 LYNN 1 / 2 NBER 1 / 1 STEVE and for the season (next Sunday will be the end of the Fall Season).
A good group of Tuggers and a good set of games. The "tilt" mentioned in my last dispatch seems to have resolved itself with the Red Team winning 3 of the 5 games and the Green Team winning 2 of the 5. The Fall Season ends on November 30th and right now Lynn and Forrest are neck and neck. There are three components (in my humble opinion) to having the most wins. First is a luck component (since teams are randomly drawn - some teams are better than others). The second component is skill - other things being equal, your skill will help. The third is simply coming to play! So come on out and play with us. Last Sunday's results: 1 / 3 ALLIE 1 / 2 BURT 3 / 5 CARLA 2 / 5 DAGGER 3 / 5 FORREST 5 / 5 LYNN 0 / 5 YAS Cumulative results:
The Linden Gods smiled on us last Sunday. There was "no" lag anywhere to be found on Santa Cruz. There DID seem to be some concern that the Tugby Pitch was tilted with the Red end down. That would help to explain the domination by Green teams. Those of you that played last Sunday are now famous. Erin68 Frog was filming the action and has posted it to YouTube. Take a look. I have told her that she had the time of play wrong.
On the Sunday after Halloween, we had a great group of Tuggers and very good games. Forrest had a GREAT day being on the winning team four out of four games. The individual scores are below, and the cumulative scores for the season. Below THAT is a picture of yours truly who found a GREAT Halloween avatar! Many thanks to Allie Tomsen for both taking the picture and for the comments. 1 / 4 ALLIE 0 / 1 BURT 1 / 4 CARLA 2 / 4 DAGGER 4 / 4 FORREST 2 / 3 LYNN 2 / 4 YAS
We had the a good and enthusiastic group playing last Sunday. Forrest had a particularly successful day. Results for the day are below and results for the season below that. We play every Sunday at 8 am in Santa Cruz.
There has been a lot of recent talk about lag conditions in sailing. Much of the discussion centered around Linden Lab's mistake in placing all of the Blake Sea regions on a new type server (SNACK) and ensuing problems that created. We are back on regular SL Severs for the moment and will likely be returned to the SNACK servers once they get things straightened out. SNACK promise to greatly improve preformance by offloading the task of texture loading from current Apache servers that run other aspects of the regions.
Now that things are settling down a bit I felt it was time to take out the old "personal lag" discussion and share it with everyone (especially those who are newer in SL (in my case that would be anyone under 10 years SL age)). HAHAAHA. Just a joke folks.
So, don't miss the new post on the MarkTwain White Journal that can really help you reduce your lag experience on the water. Click HERE.
We had a lot of people come to play last week. We've been limiting teams to 3 persons a side, so we did need to take turns playing. The results for last Sunday are below and cumulative results for the season are below that. See you on Sunday!!
Sorry that I didn't get last weeks results updated and posted. Life just got awfully busy for awhile there. It seems to have slowed down a little and my new computer is working marvelously. LOVE having a solid state drive to boot from. Anyway, we had good sessions the past two weeks although last Sunday did seem to have more lag patches. Everyone bore with it and we had some folks come back and play that we haven't seen for awhile. Jamal and Kiki Nerido joined us! Welcome back. Results are below. 1 / 3 ALLIE 3 / 4 DAGGER 1 / 1 FORREST 0 / 1 JAMAL 1 / 3 KAOS 1 / 4 KIKI 2 / 4 LYNN 3 / 4 YAS
A great group of folks playing last Sunday. It was good to see Yasmin and Carla back to play. We enjoyed having you back. We played a total of four games and the weeks results are below. Below that is the cumulative results for the season.
The Fall Season of Tugby is off to a good start. Results are posted below for the day and for the season. Hope to see you on Sunday. 1 / 4 ALLIE 1 / 3 BURT 2 / 5 DAGGER 3 / 5 FORREST 1 / 4 LUCKY 4 / 5 LYNN 3 / 4 SKYE
I love the Fall of the year. These past few days in "real life" there has been a real chill in the air, it has been a welcome relief from the hot muggy days of late summer. There is a respite that we call Fall, before the winds of winter appear. THIS along with Spring are my favorite times of the year. Last Sunday saw the first games of the Fall season of Tugby. The results are below. I look forward to seeing all of you at the games on Sunday morning at 8 am.
We are coming to the end of the Summer Season of Tugby. Next Sunday will mark the end of the Summer Season. We had a GREAT group of eight folks playing last Sunday. Even though he didn't play, old friend Nez Darkfury showed up to show Tugby to his friend. Sunday Results are below and cumulative season results below that. 0 / 4 ALLIE 0 / 2 BURT 1 / 6 DAGGER 1 / 1 FORREST 4 / 6 LUCKY 5 / 6 LYNN 3 / 6 SKYE 4 / 5 YAS
Many many thanks to Lynn Parkin for running the games in my absence last week. We had seven folks play last Sunday, and the results are posted below for the day and cumulatively for the season. I'll look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
2 / 5 ALLIE 5 / 5 CARLA 3 / 5 DAG 3 / 5 FORREST 1 / 1 LYNN 0 / 4 RAY 1 / 5 YAZ
Last Sunday we had a total of 8 players. We tried one game of four per side, but decided it was better to go back to three per side. The results for the day and cumulative for the season are posted below. It was very good to see Carla back after missing a few weeks. Please remember that Lynn will be running the games next Sunday as I will be heading out of town for a little well-deserved R & R. Thanks so much and I'll be back the Sunday after. 1 / 3 ALLIE 3 / 3 BURT 3 / 4 CARLA 1 / 4 DAGGER 2 / 4 LYNN 0 / 1 RIKK 2 / 4 SKYE 1 / 3 YASMIN
The results for the Tugby games held on Sunday August 3 are below. After an absence of a number of weeks Yasmin returned to play. YAY!! We completed 5 games with 6 players and had a great time. See you next week for more fun in the sun!! Note: I will be on vacation on August 17th. Lynn has graciously volunteered to lead the charge. I WILL be there on the 10th, this coming Sunday. 0 / 5 ALLIE 3 / 5 BURT 2 / 5 DAGGER 3 / 5 FORREST 3 / 5 LYNN 4 / 5 YASMIN
Some of you may know that I have been involved with the Sail for Life / Relay for Life in Second Life since the very very beginning. I have been trying to help the effort by making videos of various events. One of the most fun events is the ChippenSail event. Below is the video for the event for this year. If you want to see your favorite dancer, use the following time stamps. Many thanks to all these men who participated, the ladies that bid on them, and to Allie Tomsen for organizing the event yet again. Benny did a great job on doing the introductions of the dancers and providing the music. It was GREAT fun!
Last Sunday saw some very competitive games. We had someone come back and play who has not played for a long time. Welcome back Yanete! Good to see you. Below is last Sunday's win / lose tally, and below that the cumulative results for the season. 1/2 Rikk 2/4 Forrest 3/4 Lynn 0/2 Nber 3/4 Allie 2/4 Dagger 0/2 Yanete
We had really good games last Sunday! Results for the day and for the season are posted below. The lag seems to be much less for whatever reason. 4 / 4 LYNN 1 / 4 DAGGER 0 / 2 ALLIE 2 / 4 FORREST 1 / 2 RIKK
Last Sunday was a genuine pleasure to see an "old" player. Rikk Lovell hasn't played for quite some time, but joined us and I hope he will come back! We didn't have a lot of players, I suspect that the Finals of the World Cup drew our regulars away. Come and play with us next week! 4 / 5 LYNN 3 / 5 ALLIE 2 / 5 RIKK 1 / 5 FORREST
For a holiday weekend we had a pretty good turnout last Sunday. Results for last Sunday are below... and the cumulative results for the season are below that. Hope to see you next Sunday!! 0/3 Allie 0/1 Bea 1/3 Carla 0/1 Dagger 2/3 Forrest 3/3 Lynn 1/1 Nber 1/1 Yaz
We continue to have new players join us. Burt Artis has returned to play with his friend macee. And Dan and Clarissa also are trying their hands at the game. Muppet also had a very successful first outing. Overall we had nine people play last Sunday. Many thanks to all who played and to those experienced players who made the newcomers feel welcome. See you on Sunday! 1 / 1 ALLIE 2 / 2 CARLA 0 / 1 CLARISSA 1 / 3 DAGGER 1 / 2 DAN 0 / 3 FORREST 1 / 2 LYNN 2 / 2 MUPPET 1 / 2 YAS
My apologies for not getting last week's and this week's results posted earlier. I was working on three videos for the Pirate / Mer communities to use at the SL 11 B and that just takes a bunch of time. Plus, as you may have seen, Hollywood Real Estate has added a number of new regions to the north of San Nicolas and Santa Cruz with a Pacific Northwest theme. You really should go over and especially check out the Columbia River. It is a fantastic serious of regions. But enough of the shameless promotion, the results for the Summer Season are posted below. We welcomed a number of new players last Sunday and I suspect that there will be more new players as a result of the Tugby plot at the SL 11th Birthday. I want to especially thank Carla, Yasmine, Allie, and Forrest for their work at making that happen. A big shout out to them!!
