Powerboat Regatta

Some of the crowd at the races
More than 20 people showed up to watch the revival of powerboat racing at Starboards Yacht Club in the Hollywood region.

SYC Commodore disisme Misfit has been hard at work putting the event together. Hollywood Real Estate (HRE) Harbormaster Rich Reynaud provided a lot of help. Kristen Cuervo, the Starboards Events Manager (and rebuilder of the SYC Clubhouse and Marina) was there discussing with folks future social events at SYC.

Soon you will find a calendar of events on this website. Be sure to sign up to receive notices when the site is updated.

The course was a counter-clockwise layout that stayed close to Hollywood and the Hollywood Airport in Santa Catalina sim.

Our winner, Kellum Salvatore
Kellum Salvatore won both races. His boat was a RL birthday present from his partner, Aymee Salvatore (who also participated in the races). Kellum considers himself a novice at this. So next time we race powerboats just realize that you don't have to be an expert to race or even win.

The leaders head for the finish line as the SYC Yacht Club and Marina serve as a backdrop
